Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

UX Content design

Background

I was thrilled when I became the go-to content person for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PCAN). It's such a great cause, and it meant I got to work on two of their web tools: their Clinical Trial Finder (which allows patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers to search for pancreatic cancer clinical trials) and their Clinical Trial Management System (which allows the PCAN employees to assist and track a patient's progress in their system).

Execution

My first task was to build a technical copy deck from scratch. I catalogued everything on their Clinical Trial Finder web experience – from headlines and body copy to error states and notifications. Then I went through and made recommendations to add and improve messaging to help reach the client's latest key performance indicators.

In following iterations, I handled quick content turnarounds and entire page redesigns. It's was a unique opportunity that allowed me to write for four different audiences: patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and the PCAN employees themselves.

Notification and error messaging had to be written, so I wrote those using the brand's voice too.
